The CFER Sustainable Development Caravans now have a new partner! GoRecycle is the only RECYC-QUÉBEC recognized organization to ensure the responsible recycling of household appliances in Quebec. GoRecycle has the mandate to coordinate the collection of its devices in order to ensure their recycling.
It is important to know that refrigerating appliances (refrigerator, freezer, air conditioners, etc.) have a significant environmental impact when they are not properly recycled. Recovering refrigerant gases from a fridge avoids the emission of a ton of greenhouse gases, the same saving as using the same reusable cup for 13,870 coffees!
Thanks to the Caravans, CFER students will help raise awareness among the population of the importance of recycling these refrigerating devices. Rather than abandoning them on the side of the street, citizens can:
- Bring them to one of the 300+ drop-off points
- Entrust them to the retailer when purchasing and delivering a new device
- Use the home collection service offered by certain municipalities
GoRecycle even has a reuse program that supports organizations and businesses that sell used devices!
